Welcome to MCI

MCI (Modelling Change for Families; Creating Change for Children; Inspiring Change for Society) is a pioneering, groundbreaking project that was set up in Co. Mayo in 2009 to address the needs of children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse.  MCI is firmly grounded in evidence from "Listen to Me", a study carried out by Trinity College in 2006 which showed that children are not passive bystanders when there is violence in the home.

We are the first Irish based project to put the needs and rights of children living with domestic abuse, centre-stage. We do this by the provision of prevention and early intervention programmes and services, in schools and the community; by raising awareness of the issue of domestic abuse and teenage dating abuse through training of professionals and community workers; by providing therapy in collaboration with other agencies and the delivery of an intervention programme to mothers and children who have experienced domestic abuse.
